In 2020, the St. Louis Regional Chamber decided, because of COVID-19, to send out its annual holiday greetings to its members digitally. Because the holiday card would be entirely digital, I saw this as an opportunity to go outside of the box and incorporate animation into the project. I built out this snow globe (with an executive snowman!) in Cinema4D Lite, then brought the 3D object into Adobe After Effects to composite the rest of the animation, including the lettering and falling snowflakes. The most challenging part of this animation was adding the snowflakes and making sure they look realistically distorted by the glass globe — I had to export out the Cinema4D elements as layers and use them as a displacement map for the particles.
